Tapping is firing a single shot, or a very short burst, rather than holding the trigger down. In Counter-Strike 2, it is used to improve accuracy at medium and long range, especially with rifles and pistols, because controlled shots are easier to place than sustained spray fire.

Players tap when they want to conserve ammo, keep recoil low, or take precise duels where one accurate hit matters more than rapid fire.
