Comeback gold is the extra gold a team can gain after being behind in kills or net worth, helping the losing side recover from a poor early or midgame.

In Dota 2, this mechanic matters because it reduces how hard a strong lead can snowball: a team that wins a fight against a much richer opponent can receive a larger share of gold than the raw kill reward would suggest.
