The hero grid is the layout Dota 2 uses to organize heroes in the hero selection screen so they can be browsed by category rather than as one long list.

It helps players find a hero faster by grouping them into broad roles such as carry, support, nuker, durable, and similar labels, which is useful when learning the roster or filling a team need during draft. The grid is mainly a navigation aid: it does not change hero abilities, stats, or matchmaking, but it makes the selection phase easier to read and compare. For example, a new player looking for a simple support can open the support section of the grid instead of searching through every hero in the game.
