Anchor:

An anchor is a defender whose main job is to hold a specific bombsite or area and delay the attackers for as long as possible. In Counter-Strike 2, anchors are often the last line of defense on a site, using strong positioning, utility, and disciplined aim to buy time for teammates to rotate.

The role matters because a good anchor can make an execute harder, force attackers to spend more resources, and create space for the rest of the team to respond.
