Anti-eco is a round played against an opponent expected to have little or no money, so the team buys weapons and utility meant to reliably beat weaker equipment. In Counter-Strike 2, anti-eco rounds matter because winning them prevents upset losses and helps protect the team's economy.

Teams often use anti-eco rounds to avoid close-range surprises from pistols, shotguns, or stacked close positions, and to secure the round with minimal risk.
