A cooldown is the mandatory waiting period after using an ability before that ability can be used again. In Overwatch 2, cooldowns control the pace of abilities such as movement skills, defensive tools, and crowd-control effects, making timing an important part of hero play. Tracking enemy cooldowns also helps players know when a threat has already been used and when it is likely to be available again.
