Shield break is the act of destroying or rapidly weakening an enemy barrier or other protective shield in Overwatch 2. Teams use shield break to open line of sight, expose backline heroes, and create an opportunity to push through a choke or secure a pick.
The term is often used in team calls and hero discussions to describe damage that is especially effective against barriers, such as focused fire on a tank’s shield.
